Cabinet Gallery
After searching for a number of years the Cabinet gallery's directors found a plot on the site of the demolished Lord Clyde pub, essentially within the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. This presented the team with the rare opportunity to develop a new-build gallery in a prime London location. Inspired by the pavilions that once occupied London's first pleasure garden, the 12 sided plan is determined by the unique arrangement of hanging walls within the gallery. This is connected to the gallery's office and residence via a winding, in-situ concrete stair. Above sit three floors of apartments, culminating in a panoramic event space on the top floor. Throughout the project we worked closely with the gallery and their artists, with the latter's work incorporated into the building fabric. I became Project Architect as the scheme was granted planning permission and ran the project through to completion.
